Specs of my machine are similar with the exception of a much better video card. The fix is VERY simple, but for sake of not being dismissed, I will go through the background. I know this is old but I absolutely have a fix (sorry didn't read through all the posts so if this has been addressed, I apologize).

The game stopped being able to load savegames or start up a new game after I turned my laptop off, disconnected everything, and reconnected everything after a short dusting of the external monitor and keyboard. It's not the savegame itself, it's something related to a program reacting with the hardware. My apologies for sounding rude, but honestly, that's a totally and completely unrelated and useless bit of advice that you've given us right there, especially since the guy stated that he can't load the game to begin with, thus precluding access to the console. Then type the following with the quotes for your saved game name: Use the command console by pressing the '`' key to the right of the '1' key. I it does not work for you then you will need to go back to a saved game that does not crashes FO3 and start there again. After that saved game has been loaded, I load the most recent saved gamed. I've gotten around this issue several times by loading a previous save form several hours or days ago. I have encountered this problem many times with FO3 I'm playing again before Fallout: New Vegas comes out. So any help that will make it work I would be very, very thankful for! =) This is a great game and I really want it to work. Those are: Point lookout, Broken Steel and The pitt. And i have to add that I have some expansion packs that has worked nice. I have also tried to reinstall it several times and try to patch it to 1.7, but nothing helps. Apparently I have played the game before and on the very same machine and it has worked flawlessly until one day. So the problem begins when I try to load a saved game. But when I try to load a saved game I will get to the loading screen and right when I get there the program crashes and I get a message that says: 'Fallout 3 has stopped working.

So to begin with I will post my compspec:Įverything works great in the beginning, the program starts and I will get to the main menu. I have tried everything I could think of but it still doesn't work. I have a problem that I really some need help with.
